For many photographers, it can be a real struggle to create great images with wide-angle lenses. What makes wide-angle lenses so beneficial–you’re sure to capture the whole scene with such a wide focal length–is also what makes them so difficult: directing the viewer’s focus and creating a compelling composition with so much subject matter are just two of the most common challenges.
Whether you’re new to wide-angle lenses or you’ve been frustrated by them for a long time, photographer and author Chris Marquardt is here to help. Wide-Angle Photography is packed with educational information, as well as beautiful and inspiring photography, to help you take your wide-angle image-making to the next level. In thorough and thoughtful discussions of both the advantages and the pitfalls of wide-angle photography, Chris addresses the fundamentals you need to know, composition and design principles, and the specific genres in which wide-angle lenses can be used to create outstanding images: landscape, portrait, street, architectural, and interior photography. Notably, Chris also dedicates two chapters to tilt-shift lenses for those interested in exploring and maximizing the unique and fascinating capabilities of these kinds of lenses.
